I’m a sucker for a good trivia challenge and there’s no shortage of fun internet quizzes to test your knowledge of the world around you. Some focus on maps, other on culture, language, flags, iconic monuments and basic world history. Here are five of my favorites, but I know there are many more, so please, keep me entertained and challenged with any others you’ve found around the web.
And in no particular order (although, I will say #1 is my favorite at the moment):
From the moment this site loads, you have 12 minutes to name all the countries of the world. Your only guide is a blank world map and a list broken up by world regions which fills in as you guess the countries. The list is in alphabetical order, so you can use that to help you. Extra bonus, it forgives basic misspellings as you race to beat the clock.
2. Map Puzzles of the US and the World
This one is geared to the younger world explorers as you drag and drop countries and capitals onto an outlined map. But hey – I still use it because I can never remember what order Togo and Benin go in.
Let’s you take travel themed quizzes from beginner to expert level to test how well you really do know the world around you. These quizzes are pretty quick to run through, so they are good for a few minutes while waiting in a store line or on if you’re on hold.
4. National Geographic Country Quizzes
There’s a better than average chance you won’t get all of the answers right, but its a good, fun way to learn a few trivia facts for countries around the world. They do however lose a little credibility over one glaring mistake. Come on Nat Geo…Africa is not a country.
I love filling my head with those 3 letter codes designating destinations around the world. Some are easy (MAD = Madrid) some are not (I wanted YVR = Yerevan, but it was actually Vancouver) and some let you learn a little bit of history (PEK = Beijing which used to be called Peking).
So those are a few of my favorites, but there must be many more. What are some internet quizzes that put your world knowledge to the test? Please share in the comments section below on or on the There’s So Much to See Facebook page.
