There are three things I find very hard to pass up.
1. An almond croissant,
2. a glass of champagne,
3. an offer to travel.
This past weekend I was fortunate enough to say “yes” to 2 of the 3 on that list. A week ago a good friend asked if I wanted to tag along for a road trip up to the San Francisco area. There were probably many reasons why I should have politely declined , but none of those reasons resonated as loudly as the desire to hit the road.
A drive up the 5 Freeway on Friday so we could get to the city as quickly as possible and a drive back to LA on the meandering and scenic PCH so we could extend the weekend as long as possible. The weather was perfect, the fall colors brilliant and though we did have car trouble on the return trip, the car gallantly held on until it got 1 block from my home.
With such limited time in the city, this trip was really about the journey. A long car ride with two good friends yields a lot of laughs, some good discussions, photos, junk food (another bag of Sour Patch Kids??), sing alongs, car games and of course memories.
