Travel: What It's Really All About

Posted in Uncategorized
Depending on where you are reading this, the calendar has already either rolled over to 2013 or you’re in the process of ushering out 2012.  Wherever you are and however you’re celebrating (or not at all), I am wishing you all a wonderful, fun and travel filled 2013!

Up Up and Away…

For me I have to say that 2012 was epic in terms of travel.  17 countries in 5 months…that’s right up there with my last Round the World trip in 2001/2002.  And I don’t plan to let this be a rare occurrence – 2013 will stand strong in terms of passport stamps, flights, train trips and amazing adventures.

Where to next??

But amongst all of the countries and cities I visited, between the delicious cups of coffee, plates of fresh food, trips to museumes, natural wonders and late night festivities, the one thing that really made it over the top special were the people I met along the way.  Old friends I revisited, new friends I’ve made and even the people that … um … tested my patience, they all made a huge impression on me and my travels.  I couldn’t have traveled to all of the places I’ve been if it wasn’t for people giving support, lending a hand or sharing advice.

Its less about the places you go….
…and more about…
….the people you meet.

And as if I needed another reminder of that, this past Friday I flew home from a Christmas trip to Atlanta on what should have been a straight forward trip, but because of last minute flight cancellations and erroneous re-bookings, I ended up being rerouted twice and got home 8 hours later than expected. The only thing that saved me from a total meltdown at the Atlanta airport was the genuine kindness and assistance from a woman in the American Airlines Admirals Club.  Even though I don’t have a membership to the airport lounge (something I may consider splurging on for 2013), this woman helped me avoid being stranded in Chicago, rerouted me on a better flight home through Miami AND got me a first class seat. Then given the long wait I had until my flight and stressful day I’d had, she let me hang out in the Admirals Club without charing me the daily fee.  What an angel!

So to all of you that have made my 2012 year of travel so memorable, either along the way or back at home helping out, I have to say a huge thank you! I hope to spend more time with you all in all parts of the globe in 2013! Enjoy ringing in the new year and celebrating every day that is to follow!

Happy New Year!

Paris Address is one of the leading rental companies in Paris that offer apartments in Paris France short term leases. Their apartments are located in the city and some are even by some of the most famous sites in the area. These apartments are also often by transportation, entertainment, and restaurants.
