Where I'm off to next

Posted in Uncategorized

Its time to go – to get out of town. Stretch my legs a bit and breathe in some different air. My annual goal of visiting four countries a year is looking like it won’t get fulfilled in 2011. It’s a little sad to admit that, but I believe it is because there are bigger things to come in 2012. I’m being a bit more conservative on my 1 and 2 week vacations this year so I can plan an extended trip next year. One that is measured in Months instead of Weeks.

Still, it doesn’t mean I have to give up on my goal all together. I may not make it to four countries this year, but I’m thinking I can at least squeeze in two. So, what foreign country can I get to fairly easily, and won’t require me to take too many precious vacation days? Canada!! I’ve never been to Vancouver and I’ve heard such good things, so I’m on the bing.com travel page and I’m about ready to book a ticket for October.

For an American, Canada may not have the same “wow” factor as some other foreign lands, mostly because it is so close and fairly familiar in terms of culture, language and way of life. But any place new can be an adventure so I’m looking forward to it. Plus in an effort to save a little cash and check out one of the current travel trends, I’m going to sign up for couch surfing and give it a shot. Wish me luck! And if any of you dear readers has any suggestions for “can’t miss” things to see or do, please leave a comment below or find me on Twitter @NailahH. And the end of the year is still over 3 months away and who knows what may happen? Maybe I’ll be sending my final blog post of 2011 from another foreign country. One can only hope!
