Like the title of this blog, there IS so much to see…and I have a long list of where I want to go next. My most immediate plan is to head to the Middle East. Two weeks in Lebanon last year just weren’t enough and I promised (threatened) I’d be back.
So what I plan to do next is an extended trip in the region. I’ll spend about two months in Lebanon studying Arabic, volunteering with kids, training Capoeira and just learning as much as I can about the country in that brief amount of time. But it does seem a little silly to go that far and not visit someplace new, so I would fly in with Turkish Airways and make a week or two stop in Istanbul before heading to Beirut. Then before I head back home, I will also fit in a visit to the Kingdom of Jordan. I’ve always wanted to see Petra up close. Normally, Syria would have been on the list too as I wasn’t able to get into the country last time I was in Lebanon, but given the political turmoil, I think I’ll leave that for another trip.
If anyone out there has any advice on traveling in Turkey, Jordan or Lebanon please leave me a comment here. I find advice from friends and fellow travelers rarely leads you astray.
