The first month of a brand new year and I have a whole calendar’s worth of days ahead to plan lots of travel adventures. Believe me, my mental calendar is already full of international travel. Now to set those plans in action
Last year I put together a grand list of all the places I wanted to go in 2013, but as proven by my previous post, I did not fare too well in the prediction department. So this year instead of listing specific countries I hope to visit, I’m going to focus on the travel experiences I want to have. So without further ado, here are my 14 for 2014:
1. Take the plunge and get back into scuba diving (I figure a 10 year break is more than enough).
2. Play capoeira on at least 2 continents.
3. Get my feet back on African soil. I’d love to visit South Africa again and I have yet to go to any west African countries.
4. Eat in a Michelin starred restaurant.
5. Attend at least one travel bloggers conference. I had a great time and learned so much at TBEX in Dublin this past year, so why not try it again in a different location.
6. Get my hands on a new Briggs & Riley carry on – my new favorite suitcase line.
7. Remodel this blog. Of course my main goal is to continue writing interesting, entertaining and informative content, but this blog is in need of a make over. (And if you have any suggestions for great web designers, please leave me a comment below.)
8. I have no doubt it will be a crazy, over the top experience, but World Cup in Brazil is a must!
9. A new friend has convinced me that I need to check out my first Formula One race. Singapore? Sao Paulo? Abu Dhabi? Melbourne? Pick one!…I’ll go!
10. See the sun rise in at least two foreign countries.
11. Add at least two new pins to my world map.
12. Celebrate at least one foreign holidayI’ve never celebrated before.
13. Sleep under the stars.
14. And somewhere on this crazy planet…fall in love.
What are your travel plans for 2014? Any place calling your name? An experience you were dying to scratch off of your Must Do list?Or if you have any ideas on how I can make sure to accomplish any of my 14 goals, please share with a comment below!
I like this new approach Nailah! I wish you luck with your list! I’m excited to see what happens 🙂
Thank you, Amber! I always appreciate your support, my friend.
Kill a few birds with one stone and check out the Formula One in Monte Carlo… that way your close to the South of France and Italy. Endless possibilities! Just came across your blog today and I dig it and your overall positivity!
Great idea, Lisa. With my limited vacation schedule, I am definitely going to have to get to more than one goal per trip if I plan to make it through the list (and I do!). Thank you so much for visiting the blog and leaving a comment. I LOVE to hear from readers.
You should come to Chicago for the first Women in Travel Summit – the first conference for female travel bloggers! March 14-16 – http://www.travelgogirl.com/witsummit/
Hi Katie. I am thinking about it! Would I see you there?
I love the pins in your map! Mine are to visit two new destinations, one of which I’ve booked already and to (hopefully) participate in carnival abroad somewhere.
Great ideas, Megan. Where are you heading on your first trip?
Cape Verde, I’m super excited!
Oh wow! You must let me know about your experience there. Cape Verde is high on my wish list and I don’t know too many people who have gone.
