An Open Letter to the One Who Needs It (and You Know Who You Are!)

GO!

Did you hear me?  Just Go!

I’m glad we had that conversation. It is good to toss ideas around and do an audible Pro/Con list. But now that that’s done…

Go!

Your inner voice is telling you something: Listen. Your heart is encouraging you; Follow it.  Hell, the airline is even offering you an affordable fare, Buy It! You’re mentally fit. You’re physically fit. There’s nothing stopping you but you.

Of course you can think of many reasons not to take that trip.  Yes, it can be intimidating to be alone.  You’re right, a hotel will cost more if you don’t have anyone to split it with. Sure, you may not know where to go and you may feel uncomfortable when you get there. But none of those reasons are good enough to put off that trip you are craving.

Like with anything else, you have to decide what is worse…the fear of doing something or the fear of NOT doing something. When it comes to travel, I usually choose to overcome the fear of being active.

Solo Travel Can be an Adventure

Sure, you can say that it is easy for me because I travel all of the time.  I’m used to it and its in my nature to just throw a few things in a carry on bag and hit the road.  But even for me, solo travel is not easy. There is often a fight with my inner introvert to “get out there” but in the end it is always worth its. Even the travels I may not have enjoyed fully at the time, in retrospect, were worth whatever uncomfortable feelings I may have felt.

Need further proof? Fine!…here are an additional 9 reasons to try a solo trip at least once.

Being unsure is OK. Feeling intimidated to be outside of your comfort zone, makes you human.  But doing something about it makes you adventurous. So, Go!

I dare you… I TRIPLE DOG dare you!

Love this! I live in Abu Dhabi and took a solo trip next door to Oman last weekend and it was great. I used common sense when out and about in public but I felt completely uninhibited. Solo travels is one of the best ways to connect with yourself and to gain confidence because you push yourself to do activities on your own. It was great and it has set a precedent for future solo trips.
